This is Croft Castle it stands in about 1400 acres of parkland. There is a spirit about Croft that draws you in, its long history is fascinating but even more so from my point of view are the ancient and veteran trees. The renowned ‘Quarry Oak’ could be as much as 1000years old and other Oak trees dotted around the parkland are in the order of 800 years old. It would be wonderful to be able to tell the story of all these magnificent specimens, but for now I’m just content to be able to help preserve them and also help plant the succession of trees that I hope will be the ancient and veteran trees of the future.
